In the heart of Breda lies La Gym: the city’s very first high-end boutique gym exclusively for women. This stylish, all-female studio combines luxury with substance. From dream to reality
La Gym is the vision of Kristel Wisse, owner, personal trainer, barre & pilates instructor, and midwife. With a background in maternity care and a passion for movement, she felt inspired to create a space where women would genuinely feel at home. “When we moved to Breda, I immediately saw a gap in the market. On top of that, I had completely fallen out of love with my job as a midwife and was determined to turn my dream into reality.”
When the right space crossed her path, she went all in. And with success: La Gym has become a leading destination for women who want to train in a setting that feels like an extension of themselves; elegant, soft, powerful, and safe.
A safe and luxurious space for women
La Gym offers a wide variety of training options, including personal training, strength (max. 6 participants), barre, mat pilates, mums & bumps classes, and recently, reformer pilates.
“My top priority was to create a safe space where women actually want to be to have a moment just for themselves. Unlike regular gyms, where many women often feel uncomfortable or intimidated.”
The collaboration with Lifemaxx
Lifemaxx was closely involved in the creation of La Gym right from the very beginning, not just in terms of equipment, but also in the layout, design, and visual identity of the studio.
“Lifemaxx was part of the journey from day one, even when it was still just an idea. You were always available, gave honest advice, and created realistic 3D visuals that helped bring my dream gym closer step by step.”
Thanks to this close collaboration, a design emerged that fully aligned with Kristel’s unique vision. A balance between aesthetics, efficient use of space, and quality was key throughout.
“The equipment is essential to the look and feel of the gym. And as a first-time entrepreneur, I also needed guidance on how to make the most of the space. Lifemaxx gave genuinely honest advice.”
Smart equipment for maximum experience
La Gym features a selection of equipment that are both elegant and practical. Think of the Smith machine attachment for the Crossmaxx XL Rig and the pulley system; space-saving solutions that fit perfectly in a boutique setting.
“Those combination solutions were a game-changer for me. So efficient and space-saving! That’s really what makes Lifemaxx stand out.”
‘Absolutely delighted’
The entire process. from the first design to the final set-up, was marked by clear communication, short lines, and personal involvement.
“Equipping the space took time, but everything moved quickly and efficiently. I kept coming up with ideas, which Lifemaxx would revise, visualise, and refine together with me. Armin also regularly visited during construction to ensure everything was on track. Such a reassuring and supportive experience!”
Kristel’s verdict? “Absolutely delighted, no regrets at all.”
