Get to know our athletes: Christel

In the 'get to know our athletes' series our Crossmaxx® athletes and ambassadors tell you all about how they got into crossfit, what their goals are and they share tips and tricks! In this blog Lifemaxx ambassador Christel answers our questions.

How did you come into contact with crossfit and what made you decide to start?
"Before I did crossfit, I was training at Elevator sport in Rotterdam. There we did learn elements of crossfit, but it took 1.5 hours to work through the exercises at a slightly lower weight and faster pace.
A kind of indoor boot camp. I came to crossfit Nultien through Daniel (owner of crossfit Nultien) together with my husband. Had a trial lesson once and we stayed there for 5 years. Currently we have the best home gym in the whole country;)

How did you get to know Lifemaxx / Crossmaxx®?
Via Isabelle (Boone) and via crossfit Nultien. I have been lucky that I have also been able to do two beautiful shoots with Lifemaxx and now our home gym only features items from Lifemaxx / Crossmaxx®

What is your ultimate fitness dream / goal?
Get old fit. Of course it is nice to look good physically, but to feel mentally fit is especially important to me.

What is your favorite exercise and your least favorite exercise and why?
Favorite: burpees, handstand push-ups and everything with a dumbbell. Burpees, probably because I can do them pretty quickly because I'm a little dwarf. Handstand push-ups, during the lockdown I mainly trained on strict hspu's and that is going very well now. Also during heavy wods. Dumbbell, at the end of 2020 I started to have some lower back issues and the dumbbells really were my best friend. I could still do a lot of strict exercises with them.

Least favorite: wallballs and heavy cleans. Wallballs because I really have to jump to get to the target. Just not a fan of wallballs. Heavy cleans have always been a weakness ...

Do you have any tips / tricks for athletes?
I don't really see myself as an athlete .. The best advice I can give you is: do something you enjoy. That way you can do it for a long time and you will not give up quickly. Also train with a buddy so that you can motivate each other!"
